Martin BellEssex-born singer/songwriter Martin Bell originally started his career as a session singer. He had releases under various record labels with his powerful soul voice until enjoying success as “Bell & Spurling” with writing partner Johnny Spurling, after penning the now famous hit “Sven Sven Sven” for Capital Radio. The song, which became a chart sensation after England’s sensational victory over Germany in the 2001 World Cup, went on to sell over 250,000 units under the Warner Music label. The follow up single “Goldenballs” also had chart success enabling Bell & Spurling to perform on Top of the Pops for a second time. Martin continued to write and perform until teaming up as a writing partner with Jules De Martino from the now recognised “Ting Tings”. Martin was instrumental in the early part of the careers of De Martino and Katie White but reverted back to writing for his own solo projects. Martin Bell has a distinctive soulful voice and an amazing live stage presence whether performing with his 11 piece backing band or broken down to his recently filmed acoustic sessions. Martin has amassed quite a strong celebrity following including the likes of Rod Stewart, Steve Harris from Iron Maiden, and rather surprisingly the Cowell family, all of whom have booked Martin Bell on many occasions for his vocal talents. Martin was the first person to sign a contract to feature in ITV2’s BAFTA winning series “The Only Way is Essex”. After filming the pilot he declined to continue with the show due to gig and recording commitments. Martin’s recent track “Wiggle” was earmarked as the TOWIE theme tune and is currently being negotiated for a top brand TV advertisement. His rather elaborate characterised video for “Wiggle” under the name “Bell Martini” has an array of scantily clad beauties including Lydia Rose Bright from “The Only Way is Essex”. |
